Farhan Akhtar has never shied away from speaking on social issues and caste-based mob lynching has, unfortunately, become a common practice these days. Only a couple of days ago, three men were mob lynched in Palghar and the entire nation has been standing in solidarity to demand justice for these men.

Farhan Aktar took to his Twitter to address the issue and tweeted, “Strongly condemn the violence that took the lives of 3 people in Palghar. Mob rule should have no place in our society and I hope the murderers have been arrested and that justice is delivered swiftly.” The CM of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray has also assured that the culprits will undergo a severe trial for this heinous crime.

Dealing with Coronavirus has been especially difficult for the government, but they are also making sure that other issues are tackled effectively.

Celebrities and sportspersons like Vidya Balan, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Madhuri Dixit, Dia Mirza have come together to demand a Lockdown on Domestic Violence. In the video, the celebs say, “During the lockdown, there has been a sharp increase in the number of domestic violence cases. To all the men, we say, ‘Now is the time to stand up against this violence.’ To all the women, we say, ‘Now is the time to break your silence.’ If you are witness to domestic violence in your home, if you are witness to domestic violence in your neighbourhood, report it. If you are a survivor of domestic violence, report it. Let us put a lockdown on domestic violence.”

It seems like a Batman movie could have featured Joaquin Phoenix. Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky revealed that Warner Bros. pursued him to helm a Batman movie in the early 2000s. While the project never took off, the director recently made revelations about it.

Speaking to Empire, Darren revealed that he wanted to cast Joaquin Phoenix but Warner Bros. wanted Freddie Prinze Jr. The project eventually fell apart. “I remember thinking, ‘Uh oh, we’re making two different films here.’ That’s a true story. It was a different time. The Batman I wrote was definitely a way different type of take than they ended up making,” Aronofsky said.

He further revealed that the project could have had nods to Death Wish, The French Connection and Taxi Driver. “It was an amazing thing because I was a big fan of his graphic novel work, so just getting to meet him was exciting back then,” the director recalls. “The Batman that was out before me was Batman & Robin, the famous one with the nipples on the Batsuit, so I was really trying to undermine that, and reinvent it,” he explained. “That’s where my head went.”

Warner Bros. eventually approached ace filmmaker Christopher Nolan to direct the Batman trilogy with Christian Bale cast as the Caped Crusader. Nolan’s The Dark Knight is considered one of the finest superhero flicks of all time.

Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix ended up winning accolades and all major awards for Joker which was helmed by Todd Phillips last year.

Singer Katy Perry is mourning the loss of her beloved cat Kitty Purry who passed away on Friday night (April 17). “Kitty Purry crawled through my then-boyfriend’s window 15 years ago, fully pregnant and seeking shelter,” Katy wrote on Instagram with an adorable picture.

“Two litters and many moons later, this street cat became a lovable mascot to many. Sadly, Kitty completed her 9th life last night. I hope she rests in salmon fillets and tuna tartare way up in catnip heaven. Kitty, thanks for the cuddles and companionship along the way. Big thanks to my brother David and @garethwalters for being great co-parents #kittypurryforever,” she further wrote.

James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, has confirmed that one character will die in the upcoming movie. This will be Gunn’s third time as the director of the franchise.  Before the project goes on the floor, he is helming DCEU’s The Suicide Squad which has to be completed after which he will begin the third installment of the Chris Pratt starrer.

While the film is yet to roll, James Gunn continues to tease the fans what they can expect with the upcoming MCU film. Responding to a fan during Instagram Q&A who asked if someone will die in the movie, Gunn replied, “Yes.“

Marvel Studios is yet to announce the release date of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The film stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Pom Klementieff as Mantis.

Wonder Woman 1984 starring Gal Gadot may have been delayed amid coronavirus pandemic but there’s already pre-shot content that is being released now since the film was supposed to hit the big screen in June. Patty Jenkins recently spoke to Empire magazine about what Diana Prince is up to in the latest installment.

According to the magazine, Patty Jenkins revealed that Wonder Woman 1984 will open with Diana working at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. The reason being she is keeping an eye on the artifacts that could turn out dangerous. “It’s a world with other gods and other lores,” Patty shared.

In the movie, Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal play Cheetah and Maxwell Lord, respectively. But, what makes them team up against Wonder Woman? “What makes Barbara turn into Cheetah is feeling like she’s never been as good as someone like Diana,” Patty further explained. “She reminds me of certain people I’ve known who have such low self-confidence, that they’re always holding themselves back. Then once they start to embrace change, out comes this ugly resentment built up over all those years.”

Wonder Woman 1984, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine in the leading roles, was postponed in March until August 2020 in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic that has spread around the world. On March 24, the studio announced that the sequel to the hit 2017 DC Comics movie will be postponed until August 14, 2020. The movie was originally scheduled to come out on June 5.
