No Holi celebrations this year at Bachchans, Azmis; Shabana shooting in Budapest

Misinformation has become a way of life on the social media where everybody is entitled to jump to his or her own conclusions. A portal reported that the big Holi bash at the Azmis was missing this year because, I quote, Shabana Azmi has still not recovered from her accident.

Well, here’s news for the newsmakers. Shabana has fully recovered and she’s shooting for her web series for producer Steven Spielberg in Budapest. This is why the annual Holi bash at the Azmis was cancelled. I spoke to Shabana and she expressed regret about not being home for Holi.

Says a source close to the Azmis, “Shabana lost her Mum some time back, then Shabana’s shocking accident, now we’ve the Coronavirus, mahaul kuch theek nahin hai (the atmosphere isn’t right for celebrations). Besides, Shabana is shooting abroad, and since she organizes these Holi celebrations at home there was no question of Holi without her.”

The other annual Holi bash in Bollywood that everybody looks forward to is that at the Bachchans’ residence. But Bollywood’s first family also decided to cancel their annual Holi celebrations.

It was just a family get-together for the Bachchans at their family residence Jalsa for Holi this time.

All in all, Bollywood wore a forlorn look this Holi.

"Fast and Furious 9" premiere to go ahead despite coronavirus scare: Vin Diesel

Hollywood action star Vin Diesel said the ongoing coronavirus epidemic won’t have an impact on the release of his upcoming action film “Fast & Furious 9”. The novel virus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. A total of 105,586 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 have been reported worldwide as of Sunday, an increase of 3,656 infections from the previous day, including 3,610 new cases outside China.

Tara Sutaria joins Mohit Suri’s EK Villain 2, to star opposite Aditya Roy Kapur

The makers of Ek Villain 2 have announced the second female lead and its none other than Tara Sutaria. She will be paired opposite Aditya Roy Kapur in the film. Recently, filmmaker Mohit Suri announced that Disha Patani will be playing one of the female leads in the film. The film has John Abraham and Aditya Roy Kapur headlining it and they have replaced Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh.

Dharmendra, Jeetendra starrer The Burning Train to get a remake

Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Vinod Khanna starrer The Burning Train is the latest addition in the list of classics that will get a remake. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news with a series of tweets and informed that the project will be bankrolled by The Burning Train director Ravi Chopra’s son Juno Chopra and actor-turned producer Jacky Bhagnani. Juno Chopra recently produced the film Pati Patni Aur Woh starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday while Jackky is producing David Dhawan’s Coolie No 1 starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan.

Sony Entertainment Television’s popular comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show promises a night full of fun and entertainment as one of the biggest on-screen jodis of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, who will be sharing the screen space after a decade, along with the biggest action director Rohit Shetty and maverick filmmaker Karan Johar will be seen promoting their upcoming film, Sooryavanshi. The fans are excited to see the country’s biggest stars under one roof taking a volley of quirky questions from Kapil Sharma and are awaiting the laughter-filled episode.

During the show, Rohit Shetty shared some insights about Akshay Kumar’s unbelievable stunt which shocked the director. Rohit shared a shocking incident during the shoot of the film, and said, “Firstly, this film is 90% of action sequences which are performed solely by Akshay sir. While the helicopter sequence, Akshay sir performed the stunt of jumping on a helicopter from the bike that he was riding without the support of a harness, which quite shocked me and the rest of the crew.”

Further, he added, “Initially, we had kept a cut in between the sequence of jumping on a helicopter from the bike, so we can fit the harness to him. But we didn’t know when this man spoke with the pilot as he supported him in continuing the action sequence without the support of harness.”

Out of curiosity, Archana asked Akshay, “How does Twinkle Khanna react when she gets to know that you performed such hazardous stunts without any safety measures,” to which Akshay replied laughingly, “She has given up.”

During the show, when Kapil Sharma inquired Akshay about his expectations from Sooryavanshi as his last film Good Newwz crossed Rs. 200 crores at the box office, to which Khiladi Kumar said, “I don’t believe in this. Main tikey rahu, wahi important cheez hai, kyunki to get a break in a film is easy whereas it is a very difficult task to sustain yourself and maintain consistency in the industry.”

Further, in the show, Akshay Kumar revealed that his mom is the biggest fan of the show and never misses a single episode. He will get his mom along with him the next time he comes for film promotions.

Sooryavanshi releases on March 24, 2020.

Sunny Deol to star in a thriller helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi

Sunny Deol spent two years in the making of Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas which was the launchpad for his son Karan Deol. Returning to acting after directing his son’s debut film, the actor will star in an upcoming thriller helmed by South director Hanu Raghavapudi.

Sunny says that the film is not a remake of any South movie. He states that it is an interesting subject with loads of suspense and action. He adds that it’s too early to say anything on the subject but it will require him to put in a lot of effort.

The director Hanu Raghavapudi says that it is a dream come true for him. The film will have high octane action sequences and Hanu adds that there’s no bigger action star than Sunny Deol.

The untitled film is being produced by Anuj Sharma with whom Sunny Deol has collaborated during Apne and Singh Saab The Great.

Ek Villain 2: After Disha Patani, Tara Sutaria joins John Abraham – Aditya Roy Kapur starrer

Back in September 2019, Bollywood Hungama reported that John Abraham was in talks for the sequel of the 2014 revenge saga, Ek Villain. In January 2020, it was confirmed that he will headline Ek Villain 2 alongside Aashiqui 2 actor Aditya Roy Kapur. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Disha Patani has been roped in to be paired opposite John. The makers have now found their second-leading lady in Tara Sutaria.

Tara Sutaria, who is a trained Opera singer, will essay the role of a singer in Ek Villain 2. Her role is apparently in the space of Gone Girl. Mohit Suri is looking forward to the sessions with the actors. He is creating his own universe of villains and will explore the dark side of human behaviour. The second installment will be a face-off between two villains – John and Aditya.

Ek Villain 2 will go on the floor later this year and hit the screens on January 8, 2021.

Mrunal Thakur joins Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thadam remake

Thadam remake starring Sidharth Malhotra has found its leading lady in Mrunal Thakur. It was confirmed, a week ago, that Sidharth will essay a double role in the 2019 Tamil mystery thriller that will be produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani.

Mrunal Thakur will be playing a police officer in the film and will be performing a lot of action. She recently wrapped up Aankh Micholi and has already allotted May and June dates for Thadam remake. The film will be directed by Vardhan Ketkar.

Mrunal Thakur already has two projects this year – Jersey remake starring Shahid Kapoor and Toofan with Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Thadam, that released in March last year, is written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Inder Kumar. The film stars Arun Vijay in a double role along with Tanya Hope, Smruthi Venkat, and Vidya Pradeep in the lead roles. The murder of a young man named Akash creates confusion among a few cops when they find out that the one accused has a look-alike. The twists and turns with an unexpected climax really make the film interesting.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, Thadam remake will release on November 20, 2020.
