Coronavirus: Producers Guild of India sets up relief fund for workers affected by production halt

Producers Guild of India (GUILD) on Tuesday announced that they have set up a relief fund for daily wage earners impacted by the shutdown of film, television and web productions amid coronavirus pandemic. In a statement shared on Twitter, Siddharth Roy Kapur, president of the GUILD, urged the members of the film fraternity to contribute to the fund to “minimize the disruption in the lives of our valued colleagues”.

Covid-19: Bengal cinema halls to remain shut this month

All cinema halls in West Bengal will remain closed till March 31, while film shoots in the state would remain suspended upto March 30 in view of the novel coronavirus threat, various stakeholders announced on Tuesday.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson released from hospital after receiving treatment for coronavirus in Australia

A week ago, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks revealed that he and his wife Rita Wilson had tested positive for Coronavirus. The actor has been Australia for the shooting for Elvis Presley biopic.

“Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!,” he wrote on Instagram.

On Monday, March 16, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were released from a Queensland hospital in Australia and are now in self-quarantine at their rented home.

After announcing their diagnosis, Tom Hanks assured his fans that they were been taken care of properly. “Thanks to the Helpers. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other. Hanx,” he wrote on Twitter.

On March 12, Tom shared the first photo of himself with Rita and said that they are taking one day at a time. “Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx,” he wrote.

On the work front, Tom Hanks was shooting for Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis Presley biopic where he is essaying the role of Elvis’ manager.

Game Of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju tests positive for Coronavirus

Actor Kristofer Hivju, best known for his role of Tormund in HBO series Game Of Thrones, has confirmed that he has tested positive for Coronavirus. He also said that he is currently in self-quarantine.

There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals. Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy!”

On the work front, after his stint in Game Of Thrones, Kristofer Hivju was cast in season 2 of Henry Cavill starrer The Witcher for the role of Nivellen.

Yash – Sanjay Dutt starrer KGF 2’s last schedule postponed

Kannada superstar Yash’s eagerly awaited sequel to the 2018 blockbuster KGF is almost ready. “We have a couple fights to film between Yash and Sanjay Dutt and then we are done. We were supposed to start a schedule from March 17. But because of the Coronavirus scare, the March 17 schedule has been postponed indefinitely,” informs a prominent crew member.

Interestingly Yash was willing to go ahead with the schedule from March 17 in spite of the health scare. “But everyone else wouldn’t hear of it. So Yash had no choice but to return home. He is now spending time with his wife and children, and hoping that the viral scare will soon subside and life would be back to normal,” says the source.

The date selected to release KGF Chapter 2 is now October 23. And there is a story behind the date.

The source reveals, “We wanted to release on October 2. But there are two elaborate fights yet to be shot. Then the film requires loads and loads of post-production work including very special FX. All of this put together made Yash and director Prashath Neel reconsider their original plans to release on October 23.”
