Originally born as Balbir Raj Kapoor on 18 March 1938 in erstwhile Calcutta, the actor started his career as a child artist in the late 1940s and appeared in Sangram (1950) and Dana Paani (1953). One of the most powerful actors of the industry, Shashi Kapoor made a million fans with his slanted smile and sparkling eyes. Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, has been pulled by Marvel Studios in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The Cate Shortland-directed film, which was scheduled to be released on May 1, is delayed until further notice, reported Deadline. With two biggest movie chains, AMC and Regal, shutting down for possibly close to two months, it was an inevitable decision by the makers.

Anyone who is familiar with the script of Kabir Khan’s sports drama ’83 would know that there is little room for female representation in the plot. It is essentially devoted to portraying the legendary Kapil Dev’s historic win at the 1983 World Cup, while the other cricketers on the field are the secondary driving-force of the story.
So what made the exceptionally choosy Deepika Padukone (she has said no to over 130 scripts during the last one year) say yes to playing Kapil Dev’s wife Roma in ’83? Was it her husband Ranveer Singh’s presence in the film?
Nah! Sources say it is just a guest appearance. “Deepika agreed to do it because she was paid her full market price for an extended cameo. In all likelihood she is going to be billed a guest star in ’83,” says the source.
Enjoy the Ranveer-Deepika pair’s presence in ’83 when it hits theatres. You won’t be seeing this real-life couple in any other film in the near future. Deepika and Ranveer have taken a joint decision to not take up any film together unless the offer is really worth it. Familiarity, as we all know, tempts audiences out of the theatre.

Salman Khan is looking for new romantic leads he has not worked with before. So for now it is goodbye to the Katrinas and Sonakshis who are seen frequently in the Superstar’s company on screen. Sources close to Salman say he is now looking at pairing himself with the newer talent. Hence it is Disha Patani in his next release Radhe. Salman had worked with Disha in Bharat where she had a cameo. Now she’s cast in a full-fledged role opposite Salman in Radhe.
Now comes the news that Pooja Hedge has been cast with Salman in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. Pooja has figured in two massive hits recently. Housefull 4 in Hindi and Ala Vaikunthapurramloo in Telugu. Following these two blockbusters Ms Hegde has duly hiked her price.
Says a source, “She’s being paid four times more for Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali by producer Sajid Nadiadwala than she was for Housefull 4. And rightly so, since the entertainment market is success-driven and the leading men hike their prices after a hit. Why should boys have all the fun?”

Plans are afoot to re-release Baaghi 3 and Angrezi Medium, the two films most severely hit by the Corona virus. Baaghi 3, the third part of a highly successful franchise, was released against all odds on March 6, and had a reasonably successful opening week in spite of the viral threat. But in the second week when the viral threat escalated Baaghi 3 slumped.
As for Angrezi Medium, released on March 13, the film sank without a trace. While the producer Dinesh Vijan of Angrezi Medium has already announced his intentions to re-release film as soon as the situation regarding the viral epidemic normalizes, the situation regarding Baaghi 3’s re-release in tricky.
“While director Ahmed Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala are all for it, their co-producer Fox-Star may not be in agreement with them regarding the re-release as it would entail huge amounts of more marketing and publicity,” says a source in the know.
Says director Ahmed Khan, “We made a mistake releasing Baaghi 3 in spite of the virus threat. Now I have left it entirely to my producers Sajid Bhai (Nadiadwala) and Fox-Star. I am okay with whatever they decide.”

The fans are delighted to see Alia Bhatt working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This was her dream since she was very young. The actress was to shoot Inshallah with Salman Khan but the film got shelved due to unforeseen circumstances. Soon, the filmmaker announced this gangster drama Gangubai Kathiawadi which went on floor in December 2019 and the first look was unveiled in January 2020. While the film shooting is halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic, some new details have been revealed about the upcoming film.
The film is another interesting tale that will be seen through Bhansali’s lens. As per the latest reports, a sprawling set has been erected at Film City in Mumbai which is almost a replica of Kamathipura in the 60s. The set has a police station, Baazi film’s poster, two cinema halls named Roshan Talkies with Raj Kapoor’s Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai poster and Albert Talkies has the poster of Pyaasa starring Waheeda Rehman and Guru Dutt. Many doors are plastered with the posters of yesteryear actresses Waheeda Rehman, Nargis Dutt, Madhubala, and Meena Kumari. The filmmaker has kept the authenticity of the 60s.
Titled Gangubai Kathiawadi, Gangubai, remembered as The Madam of Kamathipura in the pages of history, was pushed into prostitution at an early age, and later became an extremely influential pimp with numerous ferocious gangsters as her client. The film will release on 11th September 2020.

In the beginning of 2018, the Sri Rajput Karni Sena became a name to reckon with after they tirelessly and even violently protested against the film Jodhaa Akbar, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The organization members had issues with the supposed distortion of history and hence got the film banned in around 4 states, resulting in financial loss for the producers. As years passed, the Sri Rajput Karni Sena was slowly fading into oblivion but then what they did during Padmaavat’s release made it an outfit no one will ever forget. They shocked the country by brazenly slapping its director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on its Jaipur sets in January 2017. Then they once again protested and this time they did it with full force. It resulted in delay of the release from December 1, 2017 to January 25, 2018. Though the film was a blockbuster, it failed to find a release in many provinces, thanks to the Sri Rajput Karni Sena.
And now, they are back in the news. Yesterday, it was reported that the organization members, led by Mahipal Singh Makrana, national president of Sri Rajput Karni Sena, landed up on the sets of the upcoming historical Prithviraj, at Gopalgarh village in Jamwa Ramgarh tehsil near Jaipur, Rajasthan. The film’s lead actor Akshay Kumar wasn’t present and Mahipal met its director Chandraprakash Dwivedi and put forward their demand. They want to read the script to ensure that there’s no historical inaccuracy and once they are satisfied, only then will they allow the shoot.
And now a video has emerged that shows Mahipal Singh Makrana having a discussion with Chandraprakash Dwivedi on the sets of the film, surrounded by what seems to be the unit members. Chandraprakash can be seen listening to Mahipal keenly. Mahipal threatens that if they are not happy with the script, they won’t allow the shoot of the film in any part of the country. He also expresses that he has love for Akshay Kumar’s ‘nationalistic’ activities. In the video, Mahipal Singh Makrana can be heard saying, “We are a Censor Board in ourselves. We’ll judge history by ourselves. We have our own historians. Till you don’t satisfy us, in a day or two, you won’t be allowed to shoot. If you still go ahead, I, Mahipal Singh Makrana, national president of Sri Rajput Karni Sena, guarantee you that we won’t allow the film’s shoot anywhere in the country. We respect Akshay Kumar ji and hence, we have come here peacefully. We respect him because he has done so much for the pension of the widows of martyred soldiers, with amount running into lakhs. And he’s a deshpremi and a rashtrapremi. Even the films that he does have a nationalistic message.”
Prithviraj is produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films and is slated for a Diwali release this year.
